Orison Books is pleased to announce that Nickole Brown has selected “MRI, Barnes Jewish Hospital” by Emily Rose Cole as the winner of The 2017 Orison Anthology Award in Poetry in a blind judging process. Cole’s poem will be published in the 2018 volume of The Orison Anthology, and she will receive a cash award of $500.

ABOUT THE WINNER
Emily Rose Cole is a writer and lyricist from Pennsylvania, and the author of a chapbook, Love and a Loaded Gun, forthcoming from Minerva Rising Press. She has received awards from Jabberwock Review, Ruminate Magazine, and the Academy of American Poets, and her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in Nimrod, Spoon River Poetry Review, The Pinch, and Southern Indiana Review, among other places. She holds an MFA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is currently a PhD student at the University of Cincinnati.
