Orison Books couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome Kevin McIlvoy and Christine Hale as our new fiction editors! McIlvoy brings to the position decades of experience not only as a writer (57 Octaves Below Middle C, A Waltz, The Fifth Station, Little Peg, Hyssop, The Complete History of New Mexico), but also as a board member at national literary organizations (AWP, CLMP), editor (Puerto del Sol), and beloved teacher/mentor. Hale writes beautifully across genres (A Piece of Sky, A Grain of Rice: A Memoir in Four Meditations; Basil’s Dream: A Novel), is also greatly admired as a teacher, and holds what must be the rarest of combinations of graduate degrees–the MBA and the MFA!
Our previous fiction editor, Karen Tucker, will remain involved with Orison Books as a board member and Advisory Editor. We’re grateful for her years of excellent service as fiction editor!
The first duty of our new fiction editors will be to select the finalists for the 2018 Orison Fiction Prize, judged by Lan Samantha Chang, so send those manuscripts! For details, click here.
